Brassicaceae vegetables contain chemicals called glucosinolates. They are sulphuretted. During digestion, and their total metabolism they decompose to a group of biologically active substances which are the most studied for anti-cancer effect and prevention.

Studies in number of countries have shown significant anti-cancer effect common to these substances in rats and mice as well as in laboratory tests on cell cultures.
